Bereavement during Coronavirus

Grief and Bereavement during Coronavirus

It is sadly expected that some of our staff and or students will experience bereavement at this period. This is why we have created this page. People losing their life because of Covid-19 will most likely do so quickly and suddenly and with little time for their loved and closed ones to say goodbye. It is also very likely that funerals will not be run in their traditional forms and as our daily lives are already greatly affected, this will make this difficult and sad time for most more emotionally challenging. So it is very important whilst going through this to reach out and get support.

The charity SUDDEN has put together a very thorough and helpful guide if you find yourself bereaved during the Coronavirus situation.

Bereavement: advice for bereaved people

Caring for a bereaved person: advice if you are supporting someone who is bereaved

Memorialising: advice on memorialising when gathering are restricted

Helpline: contact SUDDEN for a chat or further information

Student Minds has a dedicated section on bereavement and loss. In this section, you can find information on what is bereavement, on grief but also on the different types of loss.
