Support over Christmas

We hope you’re looking forward to some time off over the Christmas period. The University will be closed from Wednesday 21st December until Tuesday 3rd January but there is still lots of support available to you.

You can find information about all the activities, events and services available during the Christmas closure period on the Student Experience Directorate website.

Christmas opening times

Lots of the buildings on campus have different opening times over the closure period. You can check the Library and study spaces opening times on the Library website or see our helpful graphic below.

As mentioned in our previous post, the Student Health Service on campus will be closed until Tuesday 3rd January 2023 but registered patients can use the main site which will be open as usual with the exception of the bank holidays: 26th December, 27th December and 2nd January.

External support

A full list of external support organisations can be found on the Advice and Counselling Service’s website. Some of the support we’d like to highlight is listed below:

  • Togetherall is a free service available to all Queen Mary students, where you can access self-help resources for things like managing stress, sleeping better and coping with exam anxiety and a space to talk to others anonymously. To access Togetherall you can register with your Queen Mary email address.
  • Text ‘Shout’ to 85258 to talk to trained volunteers by text for free 24/7.
  • The Student Space have lots of great articles and resources. They also offer a listening service if you need someone to talk to.
  • This is Us have a community for care-experienced and estranged students which you can join to chat to others, find meetups and share your experiences.
  • In an urgent situation, see the support in a crisis resource. If you are in immediate danger of harming yourself or others, or it is an emergency, call 999.
