World Mental Health Day 2022

The World Federation for Mental Health recognises World Mental Health Day on 10th October every year. This year the theme is ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’.

World Mental Health Day is also an opportunity to talk about mental health and how important it is to reach out if you are struggling. Having good mental health helps us to relax more, achieve more and enjoy our lives more. Small things like checking in with friends or family, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep can help you to maintain good mental health at university. We also want you to know about the services available to you to help you look after your mental health.

As well as Queen Mary’s Advice and Counselling Service, who can provide a range of support with your mental and emotional wellbeing, did you know:

• There’s advice and practical tips available to young people in London on the Every Mind Matters website. You can access a free, personalised mental health action plan and tips to help you deal with stress and anxiety, boost your mood, sleep better and feel more in control by completing the Mind Plan quiz.

• If you need help dealing with anxiety or depression, NHS Talking Therapies can help. You can refer yourself online.

● The NHS offers free, 24/7 urgent mental health support to all young people in London. You can find your free local NHS helpline by searching for your postcode at nhs.uk/urgentmentalhealth.

If you are on campus or in Tower Hamlets, you can call Tower Hamlets 24 Hour Mental Health Crisis Helpline on 0800 073 0003.
